Rest in peace, Sauron—you would have loved this Samsung Galaxy Ring to rule them all. After wearing the Galaxy Ring faithfully for over a month, here are my personal thoughts.
When Samsung announced the arrival of the Galaxy Ring to Malaysia, I was pretty excited. As far as wearables go, fitness rings are up there for me in terms of comfort and long-wearability. However, early pioneers of fitness rings were either not available in Malaysia or far too expensive—especially with the subscription package to read your vitals. With the Galaxy Ring, however, it completes the ecosystem of wearables within Samsung, bringing health monitoring to a whole new level.
What good is a fitness ring?
Connecting the Galaxy Ring to the Samsung Health app is seamless and offers a wealth of health insights to its wearer. As with most of Samsung’s smart devices now, the ring uses Galaxy AI to transform collected data on sleep, activity, and heart rate into actionable insights. After all, what good is data if you can’t make sense of it? For example, the daily Energy Score is calculated by measuring your daily physical and mental readiness by analysing your sleep, activity, and heart rate. This score helps you prepare for the day ahead; if you didn’t have a good sleep the previous night, perhaps you can pace your day out or fuel up with energising food and drinks. In addition to the Energy Score, there are also frequent Wellness Tips available on the Samsung Health app throughout the day, providing personalised data based on your daily health habits. These include AI-tailored motivational messages—because we always need affirmations—and training tips to improve your workouts.
What did I like about it?

Comfort-wise, the Galaxy Ring is up there in terms of wearables that I don’t even remember having on. Unlike a watch, you can barely feel the ring as you’re sleeping. If you, like me, enjoy the arm-under-the-head position when sleeping, you’ll know that wearing a fitness watch to sleep can be challenging. The fitness ring also won’t constantly bombard you with vibrations from notifications. It’s just happy to be there, tracking your daily stress and heart rate. In fact, its design also ensures that it won’t stand out too much from your daily outfits, allowing you to take it from the gym to an elegant night out. After all, it’s a simple, minimally designed ring with a titanium frame—available in gold, silver, and black—with a trendy concave design. It also comes with a transparent clamshell charging case, evoking a jewellery box design. It’s not just pretty; it also shows you the battery life for both ring and case. Speaking of battery life, the Galaxy Ring does well on that front. It can go up to seven days without charge, which most wearables can’t match.
Aesthetics aside, I wanted a fitness ring to track data I normally wouldn’t be able to—specifically, sleep, heart rate, and stress levels. I had previously seen a video where a girl’s fitness ring found out she had cancer before she even saw any symptoms, simply because the fitness ring detected an abnormal amount of stress levels within her body. It changed my perspective on wearables, and I liked the idea that something so small could help detect any possible health issues just with irregularities in my bodily functions. While there haven’t been any particular health concerns spotted in the past month since I’ve begun wearing the Galaxy Ring, it’s comforting knowing that this little ring is steadily tracking my health. The Sleep Scores are particularly helpful in finding out why I may not have had a good night’s sleep—it helps me whittle out possibilities to help me achieve the best possible sleep. Although, perhaps I really should stop doom scrolling on TikTok before I go to bed.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is available at a recommended retail price of RM2,099 and comes in nine size options along with three colour choices: Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold.
