OMEGA has been shaping the world of women’s watchmaking for well over a century, from its earliest models through icons like the Ladymatic, Constellation and Seamaster. Now, 23 years after the debut of the Aqua Terra, the collection evolves once again, and it’s scaled down to a smaller 30mm model. The new size brings a delicate new dimension to the range, alongside a sophisticated movement designed specifically for the new pieces.
The collection comprises twelve unique references, from sleek stainless steel to rich 18K Sedna and Moonshine Gold, some pure, others blended in stylish two-tone combinations. Each piece is defined by its vibrant dial, applied hour markers and distinguished positioned date window at 6 o’clock. Flip it over and a sapphire crystal caseback reveals the intricate workings of OMEGA’s master of precision.
Housing two newly-engineered Master Chronometer movements—calibre 8750 for the stainless steel and two-tone versions, and calibre 8751 for the Sedna and Moonshine Gold, and measuring at just 20mm in diameter, these movements were designed to suit the finer dimensions of the 30mm case. Each one is features OMEGA’s Co-Axial escapement, a silicon balance spring and automatic winding in both directions, with a power reserve of over 48 hours.
The collection is finished with an integrated bracelet in matching metal, designed for a comfortable, tailored fit thanks to its patented screw-and-pin system and 2mm adjustment. To celebrate this milestone, OMEGA has teamed up with six remarkable women from film, fashion and music in its ‘My Little Secret’ campaign, a collection that invites you to appreciate the finer things in life, up close and on your terms.
For this exclusive, we got up close and personal with Academy Award-winner Ariana DeBose, one of entertainment’s most versatile talents. Her Oscar for West Side Story, alongside BAFTA and Golden Globe accolades, speaks to a career defined by precision, depth and powerful performances. In this exclusive behind-the-scenes interview for OMEGA’s Aqua Terra 30mm campaign, Ariana opens up about the connection between style and empowerment, and the pure joy of expressing herself on her terms.
What’s one thing about this watch that you want to tell everyone about?
Ariana DeBose: Besides my adoration for it? That it’s new! No one has worn it yet besides me and the queens here. It feels very much like we’re in a secret club, but I’m excited for others to get to wear it. It’s rad, smaller, a 30 millimetre. It fits in perfectly with your daily routine. Being a small, mighty, short-framed gal, I may feel like a giant on stage, but I’m a smaller queen. This watch enhances my being. It lifts you up in a fun way.
Between us, what’s something about OMEGA that people might not know, but should?
AD: I mean, they may not know it’s a vibe, but you should know that OMEGA is a vibe! And it’s the vibe you need. It’s positive, it’s uplifting, you feel special. I always feel like I’m shining brighter than ever when I’m wearing my watch or any of the watches that I gratefully own. The steel-on-steel with diamond bezel and grey lacquered dial really sets the overall look and feel of the watch.
When I had my shining moment in the sun with West Side Story, OMEGA was the first to show support in a big way, and that meant a great deal to me. When you’re new in Hollywood, that new girl feeling can be tough. Working with OMEGA, I felt so embraced, and they just wanted to get to know me. That is not how it goes all the time.
I always feel so empowered to be all the things that I am when I’m with OMEGA, or wearing OMEGA, or in a space that OMEGA has helped to cultivate. I went to the Paris Olympics with OMEGA this past summer, and it was hands down one of the best trips I’ve ever had in my life. It wasn’t simply just about the event, but also the community. Community is everything.
What’s your secret to styling this Aqua Terra?
AD: You know my secret to styling this particular Aqua Terra is to let it shine. It’s gonna shine all on its own, but a little black dress goes a long way with a piece like this. Wear something you love and allow the watch to enhance your swag and your individual style. The 30mm size with that diamond-set bezel and grey lacquered dial goes with everything, you know. It’s like the cherry on top of an outfit. The ultimate secret is just to wear it with joy. That’s the thing that matters. That’s the secret. Just love being in it.
Is there something about this watch you haven’t shared yet?
AD: Do you know this watch is the new Aqua Terra 30 millimetre? It’s from the Seamaster collection and it’s gorgeous. The detail on this watch is everything; the sun-brushed dial is smaller than other watches in the Aqua Terra collection. It’s fit for every day, but it has some heft to it. I feel confident wearing it. I love it.
What’s one thing about this watch that you want to tell everyone about?
AD: One thing you’re asking me to choose, one thing?! I think having a timepiece is so special and takes every outfit to the next level. This is the perfect size, and you can have it with diamonds. I think it’s a perfect everyday watch.
Between us, what’s something about OMEGA that people might not know but should?
AD: A lady never reveals her secrets, but I think people, especially the new generation of Timepiece admirers, have realised the legacy of OMEGA and how much love, care, and ingenuity have gone into the brand. Making timepieces that we take to the moon, and they’re also keeping the ladies chic and spicy as well.
