Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged!
After albums of love songs and heartbreak ballads, the singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 35, revealed the news in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, August 26, revealing snippets from the intimate proposal.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift captioned the announcement, with the dynamite emoji playing on their initials, ‘T ‘n’ T’. The accompanying photographs show Kelce on bended knee beneath a pink-and-white floral trellis in a wild garden. Swift’s hands cup his face as he holds the ring box and her waist.
Other frames capture the couple embracing on a garden bench.
While it’s unclear what the occasion or location was, the pair seemed to be both dressed for a summer date—Swift, in a striped silk midi dress by Ralph Lauren and tan block heels by Louis Vuitton, while Kelce donned a navy blue cable-knit polo shirt, also Ralph Lauren, white shorts, and brown loafers.
The singer also sported a swipe of her signature crimson lipstick.
In one shot, she offered a close-up of the stunning diamond engagement ring—an Old Mine brilliant cut diamond designed with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery with an Art Deco gold band that feels true to Swift’s style. It also pairs quite nicely with her Cartier watch.
The proposal marks the culmination of a whirlwind love story that has unfolded over the last two years.
Swift recently joined Kelce and his brother Jason on their New Heights podcast, where she spoke candidly about their relationship. “I knew that he wasn’t crazy the first couple of times that we talked,” she said. “He [was] truly getting to know me in a way that’s very natural, very pure, very normal.” She described Kelce as “a vibe booster in everyone’s life… like when you push the enhance colour button on your phone.”
Earlier this month, that very podcast broke a Guinness World Record for the most concurrent views on YouTube—1.3 million—when Swift appeared to unveil her forthcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The couple’s story began in July 2023, when Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Kansas City. He later confessed he was “a little butthurt” after failing to deliver her a friendship bracelet with his phone number. But fate intervened: by September, Swift was spotted in Kelce’s suite at a Chiefs game, cheering alongside his mother. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” Swift clarified. “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
