Ever wondered where the world’s biggest stars get their aesthetic treatments done? Contrary to popular belief, celebrities are not flocking to the US or even South Korea as much as they used to. Right here in Southeast Asia—and just a two and a half hour plane ride away—is Thailand, one of the aesthetics industry’s rising locales. And leading the charge for treatments in the Land of Smiles is Dr Dissapong Panithaporn, who is also known as Dr Joe.

The Thai native has been working in dermatology and aesthetics for close to 17 years, and especially in recent times, has worked on the faces of some of the biggest celebrities worldwide. Most notably—and recently—Panithaporn worked with Kim Kardashian, who spoke highly of the doctor during recent press interviews for new Hulu legal drama All’s Fair. Closer to home, the esteemed aesthetic doctor also worked with Thai star and GRAZIA Singapore cover girl Faye Peraya, as well as Jackson Wang, Billkin and Bella Ranee Campen at his practice at The Demis Clinic in Bangkok.

Ahead, Panithaporn shares more about what sets the aesthetics industry in Thailand apart, the importance of choosing the right doctor and the most popular treatments at The Demis Clinic.

GRAZIA Singapore (GS): Tell us more about your practice. What is your personal philosophy when it comes to your work?
Dr Joe (DJ): I’ve been working in dermatology and aesthetics for over 17 years as the founder of The Demis Clinic in Bangkok. My belief is simple: aesthetic medicine should bring out your best features, not change who you are. Every treatment I do focuses on balance, safety, and natural results. When a patient looks refreshed and confident, that’s when I know I’ve done something meaningful.

GS: What pushed you to venture into aesthetics in the first place, as opposed to other facets of medicine?
DJ: When I was in medical school, I had severe acne. It affected my confidence deeply. After proper treatment, my skin cleared up—and I still remember how good that felt. That experience taught me how powerful healthy skin can be in restoring someone’s self-esteem. Since then, I’ve wanted to help others feel that same confidence through science-based care that really lasts.

GS: Your work has attracted the attention of major celebrities around the world. In your opinion, what makes you and your work stand out?
DJ: Apart from seeing patients at my clinic, I’ve spent the past eight years teaching doctors both in Thailand and overseas, and it’s been an incredible journey. I also dedicate a lot of time to research, and some of my studies have been published in international journals. I think these efforts—teaching, learning, and doing honest clinical work—naturally make people notice and share my work with others.

GS: When treating celebrity clients, is the focus different from the average person?
DJ: Every patient, whether famous or not, deserves the same attention and care. The main difference is timing—celebrities often have tight schedules or need results that look perfect on camera. My goal is to make sure they still look like themselves, just the best and most confident version.

GS: In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of people travelling to Thailand for cosmetic procedures. Why do you think this is happening?
DJ: Thailand has become a trusted destination for aesthetics. Our doctors are skilled, our technology is advanced, and our sense of beauty feels natural and refined. We understand Asian features very well, yet we also work with international aesthetics. Combine that with genuine hospitality, and people feel safe and well cared for here.

GS: How do you think aesthetic procedures in Thailand will evolve in the coming years?
DJ: The future is moving toward regeneration—treatments that stimulate the skin to heal and renew itself instead of simply adding volume. I believe we’ll see more non-invasive procedures that improve skin quality from within and focus on long-term results rather than quick fixes.

GS: What is the most important thing to consider when choosing an aesthetic doctor?
DJ: Trust and connection. Find someone who listens, understands what you’re hoping for, and gives honest advice. Experience matters, of course, but empathy matters too. The right doctor should help you look natural and confident—not overdone.

GS: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to anyone considering their first aesthetic treatment?
DJ: Start small and have a proper consultation first. Talk openly with your doctor about what you want. Choose something that enhances your natural look rather than change it completely. The goal is to look fresh, confident, and still very much yourself.

GS: What are some of the most popular treatments at The Demis Clinic?
DJ: Lifting and skin-quality treatments are always in demand. Programmes like Ulthera Prime, ContourX², and our personalised filler techniques are favourites because they give visible yet natural results. People today want to look better, not different—and that’s exactly what we focus on.

GS: How do you think beauty trends will change over the next 10 years?
DJ: I think people will move toward more subtle, regenerative treatments—things that make the skin healthier, instead of changing the face. Beauty trends may shift, but natural confidence will never go out of style.

GS: You’ve created your skincare line, Acca. Should we invest more in skincare or treatments? And what’s one product you can’t live without?
DJ: I see skincare and treatments as partners—they work best together. Treatments correct and stimulate, while skincare protects and maintains the results. A healthy skin barrier is really the foundation of everything.

One product I absolutely love is our Acca Barrier Cream. It’s formulated with five layers of ceramides to strengthen and repair the skin barrier. It’s perfect for both before and after laser treatments, keeping the skin calm, resilient, and glowing. For me, healthy skin is the true definition of lasting beauty.

GS: What’s your best-kept beauty secret?
DJ: Consistency. Good skin doesn’t come from a single miracle treatment—it’s about steady care. Sleep well, stay hydrated, protect your skin from the sun, and keep a simple, effective routine. Small habits make the biggest difference.
