It’s official, smoky eyes are back in. Popularised in the ’90s by the likes of Kate Moss and revived again in the 2010s, we’re seeing a resurgence of the trend now in 2025. And it’s not hard to see why. Smoky eyes are alluring, flattering for most eye shapes, and best of all, they’re easy to recreate, no matter your skill level.

Smoky eyes have been making their rounds all over the internet, and some of our favourite celebrities have been spotted donning the timeless makeup look. From GRAZIA Singapore cover star Faye Peraya to the icon herself Jennie from Blackpink, these celebrities are proof that the smoky eye makeup trend is here to stay.

Ahead, get a closer look at their renditions of the look, and discover how to perfect the sultry eye makeup on yourself.

Faye Peraya

The office siren look is so much more than a trend, says Thai star Faye Peraya. Faye recently sported an intensely smoky eye—embellished with thick false lashes and warm-toned brown shimmers. The key to achieving this look is to blend each shade out before adding depth or packing on too much product. Faye’s look is perfected by extending the base nude shade all the way up to the brows, while keeping the darker greys close to the eye socket.

For a grungier alternative, take a page out of Yoonchae’s makeup look. What this look lacks in polish and refinement, it makes up for with attitude and raw glamour. Here, it’s important to keep the grey shades cool-toned and sparkle-free—we want the makeup to scream edgy and messy. And the best part of this look? You don’t need to worry about diffusing the shadows neatly—there’s a certain allure to smudged liner, just ask the Katseye member, who pulls this look off with the ease of a rockstar.

Jennie

A tamer version of the grunge look was worn by Jennie at the Chanel Spring/Summer 2026 runway show during Paris Fashion Week, and we’re obsessed. It still channels the same moody vibe but with a slightly more elevated finish—which means you could wear this look to your office Christmas party and you’ll definitely ace the brief. Again, keep the pigment closer to the lash line. But this time, add a touch of shimmery nude shadow to the middle third of your lids for a softly reflective sheen, before tight-lining both your upper and lower lash lines.

If it’s the festive energy you’re after, you can achieve a smoky eye with more playful, colourful eyeshadows. We love this look worn by Itzy‘s Yeji, which features soft baby blues, coupled with silver glitters for a finishing touch. We recommend choosing light blues for the festive season, so your look brings to mind the whimsy of a snowy, winter wonderland.

Emi Thasorn

When it comes to smoky eyes, don’t neglect the lower lash line—that’s where all the drama lies. This look, worn by Thai star Emi Thasorn, is a shining example of this. Keeping the eyelids largely clear of pigment, she focused on the elongated eyeliner and centred the cool-toned browns on the lower lash line. This creates a bewitching look that’s sure to captivate anyone you encounter.
