Who says dazzle and bows are reserved only in the name of justice? In motoguo FW26, we glimpse into the lives of the Sailor Guardians when they’re off duty.
After a hiatus, motoguo returns with Coming Soon: a collection that explores the feeling of anticipation. The “butterfly” sensation in your stomach, sensing something on the horizon. Where hope sometimes feels even more inspiring than the prize itself.
Founded in 2015 by creative minds Guo Moto and Kinder Eng alongside business partner Jay Perry Ang, motoguo is a world where clothing is rarely just clothing.
The label rests its ethos on human emotion, weaving romance, whimsy, and even a touch of cynicism into its creations, resulting in collections that aren’t just aesthetically pleasing, but capture a lived-in experience that feels oddly satisfying.
Coming Soon marks the label’s step away from the relentless chase of trends and deadlines. Here, Guo pulls inspiration from the pressures of creation and success, while Eng draws warmth from the film Little Miss Sunshine—An ode to finding abundance and beauty in the very act of resting.
Peering into the “in-between” phases of life when the cameras are off, the collection explores what an ordinary day looks like as a Sailor Guardian: moments of friendship, longing for romance, and laughter in between. Here, a Guardian is running late for school. Her flight powers only activate after she transforms.

The collection echoes sentiments from the film Little Miss Sunshine, where a family embarks on a road trip towards a pageant show in a yellow Volkswagen van. Along the way, they encounter misadventures and big realisations—eventually becoming more meaningful than the destination itself.

So what does a Sailor Guardian wear on their day off? In Coming Soon, pastels paint the skies. Butter yellow daze us with soft optimism, while baby pink cushions us into a dream-like state of innocence.
Relaxed silhouettes are central to the collection. But don’t be fooled; comfort never comes at the expense of beauty. Guardians add iridescent fabrics and playful touches to everyday staples—relaxation, but with a whimsical twist.

Gingham-check becomes a prominent motif throughout the collection, appearing in varying styles and fabrics. A sheer button shirt pairs perfectly with the label’s sensual and playful humour, while the same print also appears on track jackets. Whether sheer or not, gingham-check evokes a picnic outside, or in this case, at the playground.

When a Guardian hopes, she doesn’t just wish upon a star; she burns bright so her dreams find their way home. Ocean of Opportunity is an ode to her curiosity—the possibility of her dreams coming true keeps her moving forward against all odds.

An off-duty Guardian prefers relaxed silhouettes instead of sculpted contours and corsets. There are no harsh edges here. Puff sleeves and ruffle collars evoke airiness that pulls our minds into the sky. Plush-like shapes and motifs offer a cozy place for a fellow Guardian to rest their head (See Teddy Bear Patches T-Shirt)

Cardigans and sweaters keep Guardians warm to brave the seasons. Artwork pins are attached to jackets like scout sashes where memory is proudly worn as badges, while pink-striped cardigans are adorned with bows—outerwear that evokes major romantic energy. (See Ribbon Dress)

Staying true to the collection’s familial themes, the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids T-shirt offers a playful homage to parent-child relationships. The child appears in the form of a bib, an ironic detail that makes the otherwise normal-sized shirt amusingly appear much larger than it actually is.
For many, rest doesn’t always entail looking glamorous; it can even feel odd, especially when you’re constantly fighting bad guys.
But the Guardians show us that the bow does, in fact, stay on even when they’re just frolicking at the playground. Glitter and sparkles are simply part of the vocabulary of a day off. After all, Guardians shine the brightest when they’re taking care of themselves.
Through the vivid storytelling of Coming Soon, motoguo has once again turned bewildering emotions into inviting carnival rides. One that connects us back to the childhood hums that we might’ve forgotten—convincing us the ride wasn’t as scary as we thought. You might wanna go again.
