At the Vanity Table With… is a series that dives into a personality’s beauty tips, tricks, non-negotiables, and more. In this edition, podcast host and internet personality Maggy Wang speaks of the product she regrets not stockpiling, a moisturiser that has transformative powers, and more.
If you frequent malls, chances are that you’ve seen Maggy Wang (@themaggywang on Instagram) in action, commanding the attention of not only the guests of the event, but also shoppers casually strutting about the mall. But she does more than that.
Over on her Head Over Heels podcast, the former radio host lowers the walls, and really lets viewers (and listeners) into her world. The podcast is essentially her digital diary, where she documents her raw and personal thoughts—such as her birthday reflections and how she survived her recent Euro trip—as well as conversations with guests and friends that also shed the glamour to share their life journey, be it a story of how their businesses come to be or a heart-to-heart about common struggles.

Amongst all the versions of Wang, there is a beauty enthusiast. With her access to the beauty space through her career, the host has been some of the first to see, touch, and experience the launches that come our way.
Ahead, she shares her beauty opinions, must-haves, and little fun facts that make her Maggy Wang.
Confess a beauty crime that you have committed before
Not applying SPF in my early years. But never again!
A beauty item you would immediately replace if it’s lost
This has to be the Chanel Lip & Cheek Balm. Most particularly my favourite shades Berry Boost and Ardent Brick.
Three items that are on your beauty wish list right now
The first item is the Rhode Pocket Blush. While I have never tried any of their products, I do wonder how good it really is. Next is the Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask because I really want to know how it feels like to wake up to glass skin. Finally, I’ve heard a tonne of glowing reviews of the Peter Thomas Roth Instant FirmX Eye, so I’m really curious to give it a try. It might just help me on those days when I don’t get enough sleep.

A person you have the biggest beauty crush on?
It’s Manana Arekelyan (@mananamariee on Instagram). I recently discovered her through my explore page and I love how candid and real she is with her content. Absolutely adore her sense of style and just overall personality. Current girl crush status for sure.
Something you’re gatekeeping right now. Spill.
Oh my god. It’s the Diane hair mascara for flyaways. They are so good. I bought a few during my last trip to Japan and I regretted not getting more. It keeps my fringe in place, but the trick is to not overdo it. Otherwise, it could make you look like you’re due for a hair wash.
A trend that needs to die
I think overfilled lips have to go. And I don’t mean lip liners but fillers in the lips. Sometimes we really forget how beautiful our features already are, and social media really gives us that illusion that we need more and more and more. And I’ve seen so many girls dissolving their overfilled lips and honey, they look so good without them! So please, don’t let someone else’s highlight reel rewrite your face.

A viral product that does nothing for you
I personally feel like lip plumpers never really do anything for me. Or it could just be that I’m not doing it right.
A makeup step you will never skip before you head out the door
Some type of lip balm or tint. I’m a simple gal, I go makeup free when I’m not working (which can be most days) but I can never leave the house without a swipe of something on the lips.
The skincare item that completely transformed your skin for the better
Oooof! I recently tried the Lancôme Absolue Longevity Soft Cream and I can actually see and feel a difference. I literally wake up to more soft and supple skin the next day, every time I use it. The first ever painless topical cream to give me this result and might just be the game changer for my beauty routine.

Your trick to achieve the best hair day
This could be an unpopular opinion: I wash my hair daily. But I love tying them into braids and putting them up into a bun before I head out. This way, it gives me the more natural waves because I have very stubborn straight hair.
An unexpected beauty hack you always incorporate into your routine
Hmm, I wouldn’t consider it unexpected. But I always apply a very thick layer of lip balm and moisturiser before bedtime. I call it “glazing”. So I glaze myself to bed every night and wake up to the juiciest and radiant lips and skin. Everyone should give this a try.
An underrated perfume you think everyone should give a chance to
This is neither underrated, or overrated. It’s simply good. Libre by YSL is a no brainer, you can’t go wrong with this scent.

The last beauty indulgence you had done
A good ‘ol facial. This too can never go wrong.
A song that will always get you in the mood to get ready
Please don’t laugh, this one really does the job with getting me in the mood. Give it a try girls. It’s “Good Morning Beauty Queen” by Jacob Sigman.
Brands that check all the boxes for you
It’s so hard to pick but here are my current favourites: Lancôme, Rare Beauty, Drunk Elephant, La Roche Posay, and Fresh.
Malaysians you look up to
Michelle Yeoh. She’s just so mother. The dream is to have her on my podcast someday. We manifest.
A mantra that you live by
Trust the process.
