Taylor Swift’s 34th birthday celebrations began with an impromptu performance. However, rather than delivering the entertainment—as she’s done almost every night since August on her billion-dollar-grossing Eras Tour—the star was on the receiving end.
Indeed, Swift’s festive plans were slightly interrupted before they’d even begun with paparazzi serenading her with an off-key rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’. Nevertheless, that didn’t stop her from enjoying her jubilant evening in New York.
With Blake Lively in hand, Swift rang in her 34th lap around the sun with a typical girls’ night. Wearing a Midnights-meet-Reputation coded LBD, Swift lit up the street by sartorially embracing the night sky. The body-conscious Clio Peppiatt mini featured celestial motifs embroidered with bejewelled crystals. (For the most devoted adherents, the garment can also be yours for $3,569).
Swift completed the look with an oversized fur coat—the accessory du jour—a chainmail purse and a wash of her signature red lipstick. It is very much a classic that never goes out of style in her wheelhouse. Swift and Lively began their night by dining at Freemans in the Lower East Side.
Later, the pair met with Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Sperry before venturing back downtown to end the proceedings at New York’s most notorious nightclub—The Box.
The venue is an offshoot of the infamous SoHo haunt in London, famous for raucousness and erotic performances. Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was notably absent. As per reports, the athlete was tied up with a compulsory training session. Still, Swift is embracing the merits of going out in public more, especially in her 34th year.
As she explained to Times Magazine, “Yes, if I go out to dinner, there’s going to be a whole chaotic situation outside the restaurant.” See: the singing paparazzi. “But I still want to go to dinner with my friends. Life is short. Have adventures. Me locking myself away in my house for a lot of years—I’ll never get that time back. I’m more trusting now than I was six years ago.”
