Taking the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ On An Everyday Test Run

Big on screen, power, and portability.

They say bigger is always better, and Samsung seems intent on proving that with their whopping 13.1-inch Galaxy Tab S10 FE+. I recently got our hands on the new tablet and hit the ground running by incorporating it into my daily worklife; and a little of my 5-to-9 after my 9-to-5. After several weeks of toting the Tab S10 FE+ around, I’m confident that it comes pretty close to replacing a traditional laptop. In fact, I’m writing this review on the tablet itself. Let’s get into it.

Out of the box

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ is one of the few new lineups of Galaxy Tab S10 tablets that the Korean tech giant has rolled out in recent months. At 13.1 inches, this is actually the mid-sized version (the Ultra is apparently 14.6 inches wide). It comes in three colours: grey, silver, and blue, and is priced starting at RM2,799 for the Wi-Fi version, while the 5G version starts at RM3,149. It comes minimally packaged in a slim box containing just the tablet itself, a USB-C charging cable, and the S Pen. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that you don’t need to purchase the S Pen separately.

What’s behind the screens

The S10 FE+ is powered by the Exynos 1580 Chipset and comes in either an 8GB or 12GB RAM version. I am typically a laptop and desktop user than a tablet, because I like multitasking and stacking my windows. After all, writing is all about research, and with research comes a million tabs in several windows. With the 12GB RAM version, I can comfortably have three windows running concurrently on the S10FE+ and experience no lag. It’s also worth noting that you can run Chrome (and most apps) on desktop mode instead of mobile, and that already changes the game for me.

The screen is LCD with a fairly sharp 2880 x 1800 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It’s by no means a gaming laptop, but for the average everyday user that wants to play some simple games and binge watch the TV series du jour, it does a spanking job.

As with any Samsung Galaxy products out in 2025, the S10 FE+ has Galaxy AI features off the bat, including AI Select that works quite well alongside the S Pen, allowing you to search images simply by circling them, as well as simple photo editing on the tablet.

Some of my favourite features

A well-responding fingerprint sensor

The fingerprint sensor on the lock button is small but mighty. Set it to be always on even without waking the tablet, and you have yourself one of the fastest unlocking mechanisms in modern-day smart techs. There really isn’t much to fault with this. The S10 FE+ also comes with face recognition unlocking options.

Out of this world battery life

With a 10,090mAh battery powering the S10FE+, this is perhaps one of the most long-lasting pieces of tech I’ve ever used. This lasted me a full work day encompassing writing, emails, two video calls, and the occasional one- to two-episode series streaming over lunchtime, and I still had 30% battery left over. Just nice to watch one movie to end the day.

A crisp screen

While some may say that the S10 FE+ could really do with an AMOLED screen rather than an LCD one, this is honestly not bad at all. The 2880 x 1800 resolution is sharp, bright, and spacious; add to the fact that this is a very portable tablet and not a clunky laptop, I cannot fault it. The screen also boasts up 800 nits of brightness, making this a very good companion to bring outdoors and still be able to get decent work done. Perfect for those of you who enjoy getting a spot of work in an al fresco cafe setting. But this also brings me to:

Great for binge watching a series

People who watch whole movies on their phones are diabolical. The same goes for a tiny tablet as well. On this 13.1-inch S10 FE+ however, it makes sense. The screen is large enough that you don’t need to squint for details, and the 800 nits of brightness makes even the darkest Christopher Nolan films digestible.

The S Pen

Truly, the S Pen is one of the best accessories to come with the S10 FE+. If you, like me, still romanticise the idea of writing down ideas, doodling, and the like, the S Pen offers that experience but digitally. That means deciphering your handwriting and making it legible, so you can actually get back to your idea later.

The bottomline?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ isn’t supposed to be a premium-level tablet; yet it feels like it. For the non-techhead, everyday user, the differences are minute. From the sturdy build to the crisp screen and the extended battery life, this more than accounts for what a tablet PC is capable of. At a starting price of RM2,799 for the Wi-Fi version, it’s a good price for a product that acts almost like a laptop, but far more portable.
