Who could resist a good brunch spot? Not I. Earlier in May, Tapestry spread its wings to open a new outpost at The Gardens Mall, presenting city dwellers with another option to its Chow Kit location. And if you’re like me and you drive pretty much everywhere, then this new location is going to be your preferred choice for when you’ve got a hankering for some top-notch morning bites.
If you’ve yet to experience the dining goodness from the restaurant, here’s a quick introduction: Tapestry is a day-time restaurant that offers a taste of the lively cafe culture of Australia right at the heart of the city. Menus include modern dishes along with house-made baked goods, an array of tasty beverage options, and wine options to create the ultimate brunch spread. With the new addition of its The Gardens Mall location, this experience is extended beyond the lunch hours and into dinnertime. But whichever branch you find yourself at, you can count on the restaurant to offer quality ingredients, artisanal flavours, as well as an indulgent coffee experience.
As much as the food is wonderful, so is the beverage menu. With house-made blends, craft soda, oleo saccharum, and coffee, there’s bound to be something to whet your appetite here. For us, it’s the fizzy Ice-Cream Soda that beckoned our tastebuds, and suffice to say, this is the drink that everyone should try.
For this new location, Tapestry extends the menu further, with open-faced sandwiches, waffles, and risottos now available. The Chow Kit address will soon feature these expansion as well. Keep reading to see our top three picks from the menu.
Our Favourite Order at Tapestry The Gardens Mall
Smoked Duck Open-Faced Sandwich
As a staunch fan of all things smoked duck, we couldn’t resist this dish. In this case, the meat is enchanced with maple glaze, and the flavour combination bring the best out of each other. Topped with fluffed eggs and served with fresh and airy sourdough bread, the open-faced sandwich is a total win in our books. The serving size is also just nice, leaving sufficient space for you to sample even more from the restaurant’s repertoire.
Salmon Pesto Risotto
Over at its pastas and risottos section, we opted for the Salmon Pesto Risotto, the most premium dish on the page. This dish is a harmonious symphony of crisp and tender pan-seared salmon, a dash of aromatic sweet basil and garlic, buttery toasted pine nuts and a bright splash of citrus. Sounds like a lot of clashing flavours, but together, it results in a tantalising combination that will have you swooning bite after bite.
Berries Sundae Waffles
No brunch situation is complete without some waffles, so we had to shoot our shot with the Berries Sundae Waffles. Here, Tapestry only uses the freshest of strawberries and blueberries to top the dish. Served warm, the fluffy waffles are also topped with a decadent gush of mix berries compote and brownie crumble to add extra facets of flavour. Finally, the waffles also feature a scoop of vanilla ice-cream to add a cold and creamy shot to the bite.
