Chanel has revealed the location of its Métiers d’Art 2025 fashion show: Hangzhou, China.

The presentation will take place on 3 December 2024, marking Chanel’s return to China. Previously, the French fashion brand has held fashion shows around the country, namely in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. Last year, Chanel staged a second runway show for its Cruise 2024 collection in Shenzhen.

Hangzhou will offer fashion show go-ers a nice change of scenery: the picturesque city is located along the Southeast coast of China, and its West Lake is a major attraction for nature lovers. Like Shenzhen, Hangzhou is a flourishing tech hub, but it is also steeped in history. It is home to three world cultural heritage sites, as well as several cultural museums.

Hangzhou will not just be the setting of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2025 fashion show. The city will likely serve as an inspiration for the collection, just as Manchester had done for the maison’s previous Métiers D’Art collection that was presented last year. In the collection designed by Virginie Viard, Chanel paid tribute to the English city’s music and football cultures, on top of incorporating British motifs like tea. (Hangzhou, as it happens, is considered as the tea capital of China.)

One thing you can definitely expect to see is artistry. Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collections are a way for the French fashion brand to showcase the skills and savoir-faire of its artisans at Le19M, its craftsmanship hub in Paris. From the weave of a tweed to the engraving on a button, every single detail is considered.

You’ll want to mark your calendars for December to catch the spectacle of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2025 fashion show.
