Coach FW23 sports nostalgia with a modern craze

A placebo effect.

There is just something truly special about New York.  It could be the weather or the always vociferous Manhattan crowd. With New York Fashion Week finally arriving in full force, Coach’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection sure took a bite out of the big apple.

Park Avenue Armory once again played host to the Coach’s fashion week escapade this season. “Every you and Every me” by The Placebo echoed throughout Park Avenue as models walked out.  MeanwhileLil Nas X and Ice Spice ruled the front row along with a host of celebrities.

In an homage to Empire City, the show opened with a distressed-knit dress with a big apple plastered on its chest.  Heaps of leather looks followed in a nod to the collection’s wading-through attitude. Colorful pieces then cascaded in with-a metallic lime green coat, a royal purple dress, and a bubblegum pink maxi dress, to name a few.

Denim offered a brief intermission from the line’s largely leather agenda. Jackets with cozy fur accompanied skirts screening to models’ ankles. Outerwear featured coats with a more than subtle nod to plush teddy bears whilst others glistened with gold and silver coatings.

Distressed knit dresses were shown with illustrations of a T-Rex and Mickey Mouse, in hopes of encapsulating the brand’s jolly ethos. Oversized coats were a talking point with its sparkle when paired with greater-than-life totes. A black sequin dress then followed, fitting for an eventful after-party.
