Shopping for a new 2025 wardrobe is a customary and significant part of the Chinese New Year preparation—a perfect excuse for you to splurge on yourself, getting rid of the old and in with the new fashion must-haves. For those who only have neutrals, blacks, and muted hues in your rotation, take this as an opportunity to cash in on pieces of brighter—and auspicious—colours. Trust us, a pop of red goes well with your all-black day-to-day look.
Understanding the fashion climate in today’s age, we know very well that not everyone is adhering to the age-old tradition of starting the year fresh with a whole set of new garments. The idea of creating a festive wardrobe with single-use pieces does not sit well with us either. Much to our delight, many fashion brands are sizing up sustainability strategies in making festive pieces versatile in terms of styling or with a circular approach. COS, for example, is making bag charms from repurposed leather.
The core message here is that, if you have to get something new, might as well invest in one that will last you through the fleeting trends. Loewe‘s Chinese cloisonné, for instance, are collectibles, if not a pièce de résistance. Ahead, we put together a shortlist of Chinese New Year collections amongst the trove of offerings.

Calling upon its ambassadors, Ni Ni and Xiao Zhan, Gucci released a campaign that showcased the exclusive collection. A comparably literal take on the Year of Snake is presented as the serpent motif in pink or blue seen gliding onto the GG Monogram prints or the accessories such as the silk Flora scarf, imprinted with an archival pattern.
