Jenna Ortega decided to take a page out of fictional It-girl Carrie Bradshaw’s book this week for the red carpet premiere of her new film, Hurry Up Tomorrow, in New York City.
The actress stepped out in a piece of fashion history—the iconic Dior newspaper-print cowl-neck dress that Sarah Jessica Parker famously wore in Sex and the City. The John Galliano creation initially debuted in February of 2000 as a part of Dior’s Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection before it was recreated.

Not long after it was seen in season 3 of Sex and the City, worn by Parker’s character as she ambushed Mr. Big’s wife, Natasha, in a painful-to-watch scene. While the events of the episode may have been mortifying, the look was anything but and became one of the character’s most iconic fashion moments, later making its return in a spinoff movie.
At her premiere, Ortega let the printed, asymmetrically hemmed number shine, keeping accessories to a minimum. She paired the dress with a simple gold pendant, bracelet, and strappy stilettos. The 22-year-old brought her own personality to the look with her signature vampy glam and sleek straight hair.

The actress spoke to W Magazine about the look, gushing about how it came together as an ode to their host city’s icons.
“My incredible stylist Enrique Melendez is obsessed with Sex and the City,” she laughed. “There’s probably nothing more New York than Carrie Bradshaw.”
This wasn’t the only homage of the night, though. At the premiere after-party, which occurred later that night, Ortega made another reference to one of Bradshaw’s timeless looks.

The Wednesday-star stepped out in a DKNY pink minidress, inspired by the ‘naked’ dress seen in season 1 of the show, as well as at the 1997 VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards on Parker.
Ortega layered the barely-there dress under a large faux fur coat and silver heels, again, letting the dress do the talking.
