Jazz composer, producer, and all-round talented drummer Yussef Dayes will be making a return to KL for a one-night-only concert happening this June 4th, 2025 at Vox Live. This marks his second time performing in KL, and boy, are you in for a treat. If you have not experienced his music live, it’s a transcendental experience.
The past year has been a good one for Dayes—he launched his debut solo studio album Black Classical Music, subsequently being nominated for two Brit Awards and winning an Ivor Novello (awards for songwriting and composing, vetted by songwriters and composers) for Best Album. He also sold out of his concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, as well as other tours around the UK, US, Australia, Asia, and Latin America.
It is not often that you see a performance headlined by the drummer, but Dayes is that special. The Yussef Dayes Experience is a music collective, and accompanying Dayes is a collection of equally talented musicians comprising saxophonist Venna, keyboardist Elijah Fox, bassist Rocco Palladino, and percussionist Alexander Bourt. Expect a night of unique modern jazz, neo-soul, and Afrobeat-style music with the highest of vibes.
