“I grew up watching movies and shows about performers, and little did I know, I would one day be living that very dream,” Amylia Loh shared. Now a member of Malaysian girl group COËX, Loh has always been a familiar face in the fashion sphere as a model and content creator. “I started modelling when I was 12, and even then, it was more than just posing, clothes, or products—it was about self-expression,” the artiste bubbled. Fashion, to her, was a platform to communicate who she was without needing to utter a word.
As a performer who comes from a performing arts and creative background, her onstage prowess is matched only by her audacity in style. Loh never shies away from vibrant colours, striking patterns, quirky silhouettes, and unconventional combinations of texture. Even when asked what would be a fashion moment she’d like to erase, it’s “no regrets, just character development” for her. Her story is written in various genres, and in her words, her achievements with COËX—despite being her proudest—are not the only thing that defines her. “The woman I’ve become, someone who’s constantly evolving, creating, and living out her passions, is something I hold just as close to heart,” she concluded. This same mindset is reflected through her style evolution, as well as her striking hair colours that made her stand out from the crowds—a style is not something she wears; it’s something she’s lived.
Ahead, we spoke to Loh about her fashion preferences, her fashion tips from her experience on stage and also her biggest pet peeves.

Confess a fashion crime that you have committed before
I was very much all over the place when I was younger, and I think I was doing too much—switching between aesthetics and stacking varied layers—just trying things out, but it was definitely necessary. Over time, I figured out what actually felt like me. It was a messy phase, but it taught me a lot. That said, elastic chokers were probably my worst crime out of all. No regrets, just character development.
A fashion item you cannot leave the house without
Jewellery—rings, necklaces, earrings—I’m a complete maximalist when it comes to accessories. My love for jewellery started way back, and I’ve never left the house without any since then. Even with simple outfits, the jewellery is my way of channelling me into every look—it makes me feel complete.
Three items that are on your fashion wish list right now
Tabi shoes. Even though they can be a hit or miss, I absolutely adore them. Jewellery too, and I’m a gold girlie through and through. It will always be on my wishlist because I love expanding my collection, but finding good gold pieces can be tough, especially since it’s more common for brands to do silver instead. Lastly, the Acne Studios Bowlinabag—shoulder or mini, I’m good with any. The shape of the bag is such a statement, odd, but surprisingly wearable. obsessed. Can I also add Staud’s Tommy bag? The embroidered piece is such a playful addition to the wardrobe; whimsical yet timeless. I’ve had my eye on one for a while now.

Your first luxury purchase
Technically, this is not a purchase, but it’s the first-ever luxury bag I own. It’s the Chanel Coco Cocoon backpack. It was a gift from my parents when I was around 15. I still remember how soft and puffy it felt in my hands. It was a very memorable one for me as it’s the kind of fashion item that made me like a grown-up the best way—even though I barely had anything to put in it back then.
A fashion tip you’re gatekeeping right now. Spill.
I don’t think I’m gatekeeping this, but I always make sure I leave the house with at least one statement piece in my ensemble. I love statement pieces—they don’t have to be loud, but they do make a look feel more intentional. It could be a bold necklace, a dramatic bag, or even a fun pair of shoes; one standout piece goes a long way, and honestly, it’s also a great conversation starter.
What is your favourite fashion accessory
It has to be my rings. If I’m not wearing any other jewellery, at the very least, my rings need to be on me. I love stacking them to add dimension, plus they also bring attention to my nails—which I get done regularly.

A trend that needs to die
Imitating everything you see online and calling it your personal style. There’s a difference between being inspired by something and trying to replicate it 1:1. It’s common nowadays—we’re consuming content constantly, and it’s so easy to lose ourselves without even realising it.
I think the real magic happens when you take something you like and wear it with your own twist. Some of my favourite fashion icons are those who are not chasing after every trend; they own their styles, and to me, that’s what makes them stand out. Like any form of art, it’s an expression, so fashion should be personal.
A fashion red flag
For me personally, navy and black is a combination that just doesn’t work. Painfully mismatched patterns or colours too. I’m also not a fan of overdoing; a good look requires balance. Also, when the outfit is wearing the wearer but not the other way around—a red flag for me. Confidence is key, but so is intention. You can go bold, clash, mix, or be minimal—but the fit should always feel like you’re in control of the look, not lost in it.
A controversial fashion opinion you have
Fashion can be bought, but you can’t buy taste.

If you could only wear just one fashion brand for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is such a hard question because I wake up with a different mood every day and my outfits follow. Sticking to one brand forever sounds like emotional fashion jail. But if I had to choose, it has to be a brand with range that allows me to play around with, I’d say Acne Studios, Miu Miu, or Loewe. They all have the versatility, edge, and personality to explore while still staying true to myself.
Your lazy day outfit
A fitted tank, some good low-waist baggy jeans, and a big comfy hoodie if I’m feeling extra cosy. A big bag to throw my entire life into, my reading glasses, sleek hair in a scrunchie bun (my go-to look on off days), jewellery (non-negotiable), and a pair of sneakers depending on my mood.
What is your last fashion purchase
My favourite fashion purchases recently would be a dress and a pair of heels from a Vietnamese brand, Fanci Club. Also, our local brand Ghostboy—every time they drop something, they take my money.
Your biggest regret purchase
Probably any item I doubted when buying—trust your gut. If you don’t love it, don’t get it.
A song that will always get you in the mood to get ready
For now, it’s Killin’ It Girl by j-hope—an instant mood booster. Anything by Tate McRae, Gracie Abrams, or Jennie would work too, depending on the vibe I’m going for, but they never miss.

A fashion memory you’d want to erase
Probably when I had half-blonde, half-black hair—looking back, I think it was a little too ahead of its time, or maybe it’s just not executed rightly.
A fashion icon that you’ve always looked up to
I honestly owe a lot of my fashion curiosity to the early days of blogging and YouTube—people like Aimee Song, Chriselle Lim, Betty, Margaret Zhang, Michelle Phan, Yan Yan Chan, Rumi Neely. They really opened up this whole world of self-expression and creativity for me. It was such an era.
As for now, Q2han’s twin energy, Emma Chamberlain’s effortless cool, Ashley for her eye and storytelling, Hailey Bieber’s sleek off-duty looks, Wisdom Kaye’s editorial styling, there are so many more people I can’t even begin to list. Inspiration is truly everywhere now.
Something from your wardrobe that you’d love to pass down
Hopefully, my jewellery collection or my rings collection—such a hold over me, my stories, my phases, and my little moments. I’d love for it to live on and add meaning to someone else’s fashion life one day too.
