Apple just dropped 5 new products—Here’s what you need to know

Surprise! A new iPhone 17 variant joins the lineup.

Just this week, Apple blessed us with not one, but five major product launches across several categories. Whether you’re a student shopping for your first MacBook, a creative professional craving more power, or simply someone due for a phone upgrade, there’s almost certainly something in this lineup for you. Here’s a breakdown of every new release.

iPhone 17e

If you’ve been holding off on joining the iPhone 17 family because of the price, then the iPhone 17e could be the solution. It has the same A19 chip that powers the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup—built on advanced 3-nanometer technology—meaning you’re still getting cutting-edge performance.

Camera-wise, a 48MP Fusion camera does double duty as an optical-quality 2x Telephoto, effectively giving you two cameras in one. It shoots 4K Dolby Vision video, handles Night mode well, and now automatically saves depth information so you can transform any portrait into one with a blurred-background.

On the durability front, the Ceramic Shield 2 front cover offers 3x better scratch resistance compared to the previous generation, and the phone carries an IP68 water resistance rating. It also brings MagSafe to the entry-level tier for the first time. Wireless charging now reaches 15W (up from 7.5W on the 16e).

The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED delivers up to 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, Face ID is on board, and the Action button gives you quick access to torch, visual intelligence, and more with a single press. Software-wise, iOS 26 brings the new Liquid Glass design language, Apple Intelligence features like Call Screening and Hold Assist, and Live Translation across Messages and FaceTime.

The new soft pink colourway is a standout, alongside classic black and white—and they all come with a premium matte finish.

MacBook Air with M5

The MacBook Air has long been the go-to laptop for anyone who values a laptop that’s fast, light, and doesn’t need to be charged every five minutes. The new M5 system makes that case even stronger—think up to 4x faster AI task performance compared to M4, and up to 9.5x faster than M1. For everyday creative work, you’re looking at AI video enhancement in Topaz that’s up to 1.9x faster than M4, 3D ray-tracing in Blender up to 1.5x faster, and image processing in Affinity up to 1.5x faster. You’ll be blazing through your work with this.

Storage also gets an upgrade: the MacBook Air now ships with 512GB as standard—double the previous starting capacity—and is now configurable up to 4TB for the first time. The new SSD also delivers 2x faster read/write speeds, which matters a lot when you’re pulling large photo libraries.

Connectivity gets a boost too, courtesy of Apple’s new N1 wireless chip, which brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports support up to two external displays, MagSafe handles charging, and the 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View keeps video calls looking polished wherever you work from.

Battery life remains a strong suit at up to 18 hours, and the completely fanless design means total silence in operation, while the Liquid Retina display serves 500 nits of brightness. The new sky blue colourway joins midnight, starlight, and silver in that familiar thin, light aluminium form. macOS Tahoe brings the new Liquid Glass aesthetic, and Apple Intelligence features are included across the system.

MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5

The MacBook Pro has always been for people who push their machines hard. We’re talking videographers cutting 8K footage, engineers running complex simulations, musicians producing dense sessions, AI researchers training custom models, the works. Well, the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are engineered specifically for these workflows, and the performance checks out.

Both chips are built using a new Apple-designed Fusion Architecture. The result is an up-to-18-core CPU that delivers up to 30 percent faster performance than the previous generation, with 6 super cores that Apple claims are the world’s fastest CPU cores. For AI tasks specifically, the M5 Pro and M5 Max bring up to 4x faster LLM prompt processing than M4 Pro/Max, and up to 8x faster AI image generation than M1 Pro/Max.

The M5 Pro supports up to 64GB of unified memory; M5 Max goes up to 128GB with 614GB/s of memory bandwidth. Storage starts at 1TB for M5 Pro models and 2TB for M5 Max, with the new SSD delivering up to 2x faster read/write speeds and peak sequential reads of 14.5GB/s.

Battery life comes to a whopping 24 hours—meaning you can genuinely take a full day’s pro workload off the grid. Meanwhile, the Liquid Retina XDR display hits 1600 nits peak HDR brightness with an optional nano-texture finish. Connectivity includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI with up to 8K support, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe 3. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 are standard via the N1 chip.

The MacBook Pro M5 Pro and M5 Max are available in space black and silver, in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations.

iPad Air with M4

Over on the iPad side, Apple has also announced the iPad Air with M4—delightfully at the same starting price as before. The M4 chip brings a 30 percent performance boost over M4, and up to 2.3x improvement over M1. Unified memory has jumped 50 percent to 12GB. The 16-core Neural Engine is 3x faster than M1’s, and memory bandwidth hits 120GB/s, all of which adds up to a dramatically more capable AI platform. Tasks like transcribing lecture notes, analysing video in Onform, or removing video backgrounds in Final Cut Pro can now happen faster and more fluidly.

For the first time, the iPad Air gets Apple’s N1 and C1X connectivity chips. N1 delivers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. C1X, on cellular models, offers up to 50 percent faster cellular data speeds with 30 percent lower modem energy usage than the M3 model. That’s a practical win for anyone using their iPad as a primary mobile work device.

iPadOS 26 introduces a completely reimagined windowing system that makes multitasking feel like working on a desktop—especially when paired with the Magic Keyboard. The new Liquid Glass design looks stunning on iPad’s display, and the revamped Files app, Preview app, and Dock folders all make the iPad experience feel more mature and powerful.

Apple Pencil Pro and both Magic Keyboard sizes (11-inch and 13-inch, in black and white) are compatible with the new iPad Air. It is available in blue, purple, starlight, and space grey, with storage configurations from 128GB up to 1TB.

Studio Display and Studio Display XDR

But wait—theres more. Apple has also reimagined the Mac monitor, introducing two distinct tiers that cater to very different users. The new Studio Display is perfect for Mac users who want a premium large-screen experience without going all the way into pro territory. Its 27-inch 5K Retina display delivers 14 million-plus pixels at 600 nits, with P3 wide colour for rich, accurate imagery. The headlining new addition is a 12MP Center Stage camera—previously absent from the Studio Display— that now comes with Desk View support, making video calls far more engaging. A studio-quality three-microphone array and six-speaker sound system (with four force-cancelling woofers delivering 30 percent deeper bass than before) round out the package. Thunderbolt 5 replaces the previous Thunderbolt 3 connection, allowing daisy-chaining of up to four displays or connecting high-speed accessories, plus up to 96W of charging through the included cable.

Then, there’s the Studio Display XDR, replacing the Pro Display XDR. The 27-inch 5K Retina XDR panel uses a mini-LED backlight with 2,304 local dimming zones for a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Peak HDR brightness reaches 2000 nits, which is exceptional for HDR video editing and colour grading. A 120Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync (variable between 47–120Hz) makes everything from scrolling to gaming feel silky. It now supports both P3 and Adobe RGB colour gamuts from the same default preset, which is a huge win for designers and photographers who frequently switch colour spaces. The included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable provides up to 140W of charging power—enough to fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Both displays use 100 percent recycled aluminium in the stand and 80 percent recycled glass in the standard glass option. Nano-texture glass is available as an upgrade on both, ideal for setups with challenging lighting.
