I swapped my shower head for a nanobubble one—here’s what happened to my skin and hair

Would you spend RM880 on it?

I have long known of the miraculous properties good-quality water possesses. It’s the difference between Englishmen balding early from their hard water and Ipoh girls being known for their beauty because of the abundance of spring water. It’s why your hair feels extra nice when you’re bathing in the soft water of Japan. It’s the Japanese, too, that popularised swapping out your shower heads for better quality ones—like this YEDE by marbb one that I tried out for the past few months. I’ll be honest: spending RM880 on a shower head is a bit much. But after hearing about marbb’s nanobubble technology from my hairstylist (who uses the professional-grade version in their salon), I was curious enough to try YEDE by marbb at home.

The premise is simple: YEDE generates ultra-fine nanobubbles—each one just 0.5 micrometres wide, or 1/2,000th the size of a carbonation bubble—that are small enough to slip into your pores and cuticles, lifting out oil buildup and residue that regular water pressure misses entirely. It’s a similar concept to Japanese women using ultra-fine foam to cleanse their faces; the finer the cleanse, the more dirt it can remove without being harsh on the skin. The bubbles carry a negative charge, so they actively attract and remove positively charged dirt. It’s the same technology that’s been running in professional marbb salon systems used in salons worldwide.

After the first use, my scalp did feel cleaner, and the water was able to permeate my low-porosity hair more quickly. By the end of week one, I noticed my skin staying softer longer after a shower. The brand’s own data mentions that moisture content increases by roughly 3.3 times compared to showering with regular tap water. Skin temperature also rises faster post-shower, which the brand links to improved circulation from the bubble action. Not sure if I enjoy feeling extra warm in this climate, however. Anything for the sake of beauty, they say.

Installation was a two-minute swap—literally just removing my existing shower head and screwing on the YEDE one. YEDE fits standard fittings and also has a water-saving mode, using up to 50% less water than a conventional shower head. So it’s doing something good for my skin and the water bill.

Is it life-changing? Yes, but don’t expect overnight results. Like all things good, consistency is key, and results only show themselves after continued use. But if you’ve ever wondered why your hair looks better after a salon wash than a home one, YEDE offers a credible home fix.

YEDE is available online and at participating salons across Malaysia: number76 salon, Judu Hair Studio, Seed Hair & Make Up Studio, Gosann Salon, Jian Hair Space, and Diana N Dom Hair And Makeup Studio.
