Even if the name doesn’t ring a bell, you might have heard her atmospheric viral hit “Good Looking” often enough to recognise it. Suki Waterhouse is no stranger to the spotlight. Ever since she started modelling as a teenager, the 34-year-old has created a multifaceted portfolio in the entertainment industry—from walking for Burberry and Balenciaga to taking on diverse roles, starring in Love, Rosie and Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & The Six as (ironically) a rock star.
More recently, however, music has been at the forefront of Waterhouse’s life. Her indie-pop sound is a dreamy mosaic of hazy strings and synth-driven tunes blended with soft-rock vocals that carry intimate storytelling. In the midst of the whimsical and romantic world that she has created, the singer’s sartorial choices did not go unnoticed.
Glimpse through Waterhouse’s Instagram, and you’ll notice a mélange of textured fabrics and flowy silhouettes that draw inspiration from the 70s, tastefully reflecting her ethereal sound—not to mention the flurry of faux fur coats that have evidently become a staple in the indie-pop artist’s wardrobe for years. The mind behind these Penny Lane-esque looks? Cassy Meier, a New York and LA-based celebrity stylist who honed her craft as an assistant to the renowned Law Roach—Zendaya’s “image architect”.
Waterhouse’s debut music video for Loveland, “Back in Love”, is further evidence that the singer is fluent in rockstar attire. Taking centre stage in a nightclub, she delivers breathy vocals against gauzy guitars and understated percussion in a sheer, jeweled dress that is layered with a theatrical feather jacket and silver knee-high boots.
As we celebrate the release of her third album, Loveland—which highlights everything that has happened in her life since the sophomore album (Memoir of a Sparklemuffin), including motherhood, rediscovering her identity, and everything in between—here’s a breakdown of Waterhouse’s fashion moments that we’ll be adding to our moodboards. Call her a model, an actress, whatever—but don’t leave out “style icon”.
