Pretty in Pink: The Sweetest Trend This Season

We’re blushing all summer.

Teal might have bagged the title of summer’s appointed colour, but we are seeing a variety of pink stealthily infiltrating our wardrobes. From vibrant hot pink to the softest sugared blush, the colour overflows our algorithms—ever stumbled upon the pink lily flower aesthetic? With how versatile the colour is, it really makes us wonder: has it officially earned its stripes as the new neutral?

Barbie and blush pink go hand-in-hand with the aqua teal this season. Is this a revival of Lisa Frank colour palettes, or have we all collectively decided that this sizzling weather calls for more colours? Whatever it is, we’re loving it, and so are our favourite celebrities. Hot pink is the fieriest when it is a baby tee, fitted to your silhouette and paired with denim. Lesserafim’s Chaewon wears a pink-and-orange ombré 2002 J’adore Dior tank top, complete with micro denim shorts, encapsulating the heat of the summer. Meovv’s Narin and Thai actress Milk Pansa adopt the same formula of pink tops and jeans, giving off that lively and cheerful vibe.

Sometimes bright hues aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s completely fine—pink comes in all shades after all. Baby and pastel pinks are also a crowd favourite, as it perfectly encapsulates the subtlety and gentle energy that makes one more approachable. Not to mention, lighter pinks are easy to style as their nature makes them a bridging shade suitable for either warm or cool palettes. When in doubt, just throw in the neutrals—specifically the whites—like Thai actor Gemini Norawit, who styled his pastel pink button-up with cream shorts, as well as Becky Armstrong, who donned her no-fuss yet elegant off-shoulder top with sleek white trousers. What makes this soft pink so appealing is also how it complements almost every complexion, giving you a healthy and natural glow that really brings out the dewy flush on one’s cheeks.

Not to mention, the lively colour is often associated with an outgoing personality, as the fun colour exudes a refreshing energy. Some playful and bold styling choices with this colour include dressing head-to-toe in pink: Idle’s Yuqi, in her pink tracksuit, dials up her streetwear cred with accessories like sunglasses and an animal-print bag in the same shade.

Speaking of going all out, a pink dress is an elegant way to incorporate the colour into your wardrobe. Be it a satin dress like Wonyoung’s or Lingling Kwong’s soft pink Dior wrap-style dress, a rosy frock is that transitional piece, romantic enough for daytime wear and classy enough as an elegant evening number. That being said, they are also very versatile. Adorn these ankle-grazing stunners with cream coloured kitten heels or a dainty purse for a softer look, or contrast them with brown knee-high boots for an unexpected twist.

If layering is your forte, opt for a skirt to play with textures and patterns. Baipor Thitiya treats our eyes with the summer colour palette by putting together a blue skirt with her pink top, complete with a thought-through tie-on overskirt. ITZY’s Yuna utilises dainty floral prints and lace details peeking from the neckline, proving that mixing various textures is anything but intimidating.
