The Abeille Royale range has long been a gold standard in skincare. With over a decade of rejuvenating the skin and revitalising the complexion, the line is now 16-products-strong where the skin is concerned. To learn more about the goodness of Guerlain’s latest drops, we spoke to the brand’s Head of Research, Dr. Frédéric Bonté, and got his insights on the Abeille Royale Honey Treatment Day Cream and the Abeille Royale Honey Treatment Night Cream. With the most potent of bee products embedded into the cushioning cream, fine lines can be smoothed away, unveiling plumper and more radiant skin with each passing day. Read on to discover the benefits of honey for skin.

However, the creams are not only created for tackling collagen loss. Even those blessed with perfect skin can benefit from the Abeille Royale Honey Treatment creams. On top of the preventative qualities that maintain flawless skin, the creams heal broken and irritated skin. “We found that there are parallel mechanisms between the healing of wounds and the normal tissue repair of skin that has been damaged by UV exposure, pollution, stress and ageing,” explains Dr. Bonté.

Not all honey is the same. Delving deeper into their chosen ambrosia, Dr. Bonté notes that only acclimatised bees and their honey are used. Dr. Bonté explains that the honey harvested from the Ikaria Forest in Greece stimulates skin regeneration while maintaining epidermal integrity, and the Åland honey from Finland activates the cells to trigger neuronal signals.

Expanding the age-old philosophy of honey bandages, Guerlain doubles down on its appreciation for the legendary material. Here, Dr. Bonté makes a case for it at a time when the masses are experimenting with cutting- edge ingredients. “Only bees know how to prepare honey. The flowers in their environment and the enzymatic effects both modify the complexity of the nectar—thus creating different impacts.” Simply put, there’s no fabricating the bee’s liquid gold synthetically.

Dr. Bonté breaks down the immediate and long-term effects, too. “Instantly, you will notice a tightening effect and deep moisturisation. Over time, it improves collagen synthesis, which helps to plump up the skin. It also protects the skin’s elastin, ensuring greater firmness. Finally, the skin’s hyaluronic acid production will be elevated, resulting in the smoothing of surface wrinkles and the maintenance of youthful bounce.”

The Guerlain Abeille Royale Honey Treatment Creams are available at Parkson Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and 1Utama, and Isetan KLCC and The Gardens from 1st August 2023.
