With the season of reunion and renewal rolling around, our stomachs are already beginning to rumble as we stock up on red packets in preparation for the festivities to come. As such, hotels and restaurants are pulling out all the stops with menus designed for sharing and long, laughter-filled meals with family and friends. From traditional Cantonese set menus to prosperous feasts and afternoon teas, there’s no shortage of ways to welcome the new year and dine your way into good fortune. Li Yen, The Ritz-Carlton

Ring in the Lunar New Year at MICHELIN-Selected restaurant, Li Yen, at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, for a dining experience with festive elegance worthy of a reunion feast. Executive Chef Alex Au presents The Reunion Stars—a thoughtfully curated menu that both honours traditional flavours and elevates them with refined technique. Yun House at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur welcomes the Year of the Horse with a Lunar New Year menu that leans into Cantonese tradition, dialling up the festive indulgence. Helmed by Executive Chef Jimmy Wong, the celebration unfolds across three composed set menus: Majestic, Auspicious and Yun House Fortuity—alongside a dedicated vegetarian option. Each menu begins with a signature Yee Sang, with a black truffle version adding a luxurious touch to the toss, layered for abundance and good fortune. Standout dishes like the steamed European lobster with garlic and Hsinchu rice vermicelli, and premium abalone with winter melon and sun-dried oyster, make for an especially decadent occasion.

W Kuala Lumpur marks Lunar New Year with Reunion Rein—a one-night-only celebration set within the glow of the Great Room on the ninth floor. Bathed in auspicious reds, it’ll be where fortune meets bold flavour. The dining experience showcases culinary excellence, while setting the backdrop for all the celebratory toasts to come for the year ahead. With two menus on offer, Crimson Reins and Blaze of Abundance, it’s a fitting choice for diners who like their reunions both stylish and delicious.

This Spring Prosperity Afternoon Tea adds a fashionable flourish to Lunar New Year celebrations, pairing bites with a couture showcase by designer Carven Ong. Moving effortlessly from savoury to elegant sweets, the menu showcases delicious plates like five-spiced trout tartlet and waxed duck rolls. Between sips, guests are treated to a runway moment modelled by none other than Miss Malaysia Universe 2025, Chloe Lim, alongside jewellery by AFAGEM and more. For auspicious beginnings, the tea also includes lucky draw prizes in the spirit of the New Year celebrations.

For the festive season, Oversea brings a crowd-pleasing spread that hits all the Lunar New Year essentials, from colourful Yee Sang platters to the Prosperity Treasure Pot. Their newly refreshed Sri Petaling outlet, warmly lit and elegantly decorated, sets the scene for a memorable, celebratory feast. Further, the restaurant’s multi-course set menus balance traditional Cantonese flavours with the indulgence of the season for food both comforting and delicious. New dishes for the Year of the Horse have also been introduced, including a tender braised pork trotter, and stir-fried crystal prawns with water chestnut.

Substance, Courtyard by Marriott

The Lunar New Year buffet at Substance is all about the abundance, with a rotating showcase of festive centrepieces such as crowd favourites, Peking Duck and Mongolian-style Roasted Lamb Leg. A custom Yee Sang station with over thirteen auspicious toppings adds to the festive experience, for a lively lo hei. Beyond the toss, the feast spans Asian and Western classics as well as seafood on ice, keeping the meal generous and varied in the spirit of the season (and for the more choosy eaters in the family).

Children under the age of 12 dine for free (limited to 2 children per family).
