There is a study going around the internet saying that Gin & Tonics are a healthier option if you want to drink low-calorie cocktails.
That is not true.
Tonic water contains high sugar content, which negates any possibility of a drink being healthy—the healthier version is a Gin & Soda instead. Cocktails are notoriously unhealthy, because they not only combine alcohol—historically bad for your health—but they also contain syrups, fruit juices, and other additions that increase the drink’s caloric count. When you find out that certain types of spirits are also higher in calories than others—rums and cognacs, for example.
However, not all hope is lost. Between keeping sane and staying healthy, life can be difficult. That’s why we’re listing down low-calorie cocktails that you can swap out for a healthier fix the next time you head to a cocktail bar, so you can still have fun.
