Since its founding in 1884, Bvlgari has continually looked to its Roman roots for inspiration. The maison’s skilled artisans have reinterpreted the Eternal City’s history and architecture, making them an integral part of Bvlgari’s visual identity. Few collections capture this connection quite like Diva’s Dream.
The story goes back to the Baths of Caracalla, whose ancient mosaics feature the distinctive fan motif that would eventually inspire the collection. In 2016, the Italian jewellery house funded the restoration of the western palestra’s iconic floor mosaics, bringing its relationship with the archaeological site full circle. The restoration saw craftsmen meticulously replacing individual mosaic tiles, a process that offered a striking parallel to the precision of Bvlgari’s own gem-setters.
This year, we’re presented with seven new Divas’ Dream creations that give its instantly recognisable fan-shaped motif a fresh expression. The collection brings together mother-of-pearl, colourful gemstones, and pavé diamonds across fine jewellery and high jewellery pieces designed to move with the wearer.
The fan motif has long been one of Bvlgari’s signature codes, with its sweeping curves also drawing from the geometry of the ginkgo leaf, and at the heart of the new creations is mother-of-pearl, selected for its soft iridescence and almost liquid-looking surface. It appears across a suite of rings, bracelets, necklaces, and a sautoir, all crafted in rose gold. Each mother-of-pearl element is double-sided and carefully rounded, allowing the pearlescent surfaces to shift subtly against the skin—giving the familiar Divas’ Dream fan a softer, more understated character.
The craftsmanship becomes even more intricate with Bvlgari’s mosaic-inspired creations. Turquoise, chrysoprase, and tanzanite are paired with pavé diamonds in a vibrant pendant necklace, with each individual stone selected and cut to fit its precise position within the composition. The seamless arrangement is where the real skill comes through, with every gemstone contributing to the rhythm and balance of the overall design.
Then comes the clever part. The new pendant necklace can be worn in three different lengths. By twisting the chain, it shifts from a shorter style to a mid-length or longer sautoir, changing the way the gemstones fall against the body. It is a thoughtful detail that gives one piece several personalities, depending on how you choose to wear it.
For high jewellery, Bvlgari turns up the drama with a showstopping necklace and pair of earrings combining rubellite, malachite, turquoise, and amethyst with pavé diamonds. Cabochon-cut gemstones introduce softer, rounded surfaces, while the diamonds bring flashes of brilliance across the compositions.
These new pieces ultimately feel like a conversation between Rome then and now. Ancient mosaics provide the visual starting point, while Bvlgari’s approach to materials and wearability brings the motif firmly into the present.
