Yesterday, the stars converged in Los Angeles for the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala—an event that’s become one of Hollywood’s most glamorous affairs. Often likened to the West Coast’s answer to the Met Gala, the evening, hosted by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, honoured the art of filmmaking while offering no shortage of red-carpet spectacle. From Penélope Cruz, radiant as ever while accepting the Icon Award, to Bruce Springsteen serenading the crowd after receiving the inaugural Legacy Award, the night celebrated artistry in all its forms.
Fashion, of course, played its own leading role. Kim Kardashian made an enigmatic entrance in Margiela, which was reminiscent of her 2021 Balenciaga Met Gala look. Hailey Bieber stunned in sculpted Schiaparelli, and Olivia Rodrigo channelled early-2000s glamour in archival Armani Privé. Elsewhere, Ayo Edebiri and Kristen Wiig brought Paris to Los Angeles in fresh-off-the-runway Chanel, while Charli XCX and Zoë Kravitz delivered Saint Laurent drama in voluminous silhouettes. Even newlyweds Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco joined the fête, perfectly coordinated.
The blue carpet proved that with the Academy Museum Gala, New York isn’t the only U.S city that can draw a haute couture crowd. Below, we round up the night’s best looks.
