Awards season may technically still be in its soft launch phase, but the 35th Gotham Awards proved that the road to the 2026 Oscars is already gathering speed.
Held at Cipriani Wall Street, the ceremony drew a suitably starry crowd, fresh off buzzy festival premieres and deep into campaign mode. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another cemented its front-runner status with a Best Feature win, while Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident swept all three of its categories. Sopé Dìrísù also made a compelling case for future gold, just beating out Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne and Jessie Buckley to Outstanding Lead Performance.
On the fashion front, however, the competition was even fiercer. While many flocked to London for the 2025 Fashion Awards, Matthieu Blazy’s debut Chanel collection staged a quiet takeover in NYC, worn by Kristen Stewart, Teyana Taylor, Riley Keough and A$AP Rocky.
Rihanna delivered peak drama in sculptural Balenciaga, Elle Fanning and Renate Reinsve opted for elegant backless gowns, and Julia Roberts reaffirmed that few do power suiting better.
With nominees, auteurs and industry icons filling the room, the Gothams offered a glimpse into the red carpet style set to shape the season.
Ahead, the best looks from the 2025 Gotham Awards for Film.
