The 2026 Oscar nominations are here, bringing closer this awards season’s most anticipated moment. Overnight, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences unveiled its selections, which included some snubs, surprises, and new historic records.
Set to take place on March 15 and hosted by Conan O’Brien, the ceremony will recognise a year of highly varied films. From action spectacles to subtle, introspective journeys.
Leading the charge is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which stormed the ballot with a staggering 16 nominations—more than any other film ever. The gothic epic has officially eclipsed All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land, making it a part of Hollywood history before any statues have been handed out.
Not far behind, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another secured 13 nominations, cementing its status as the season’s heavyweight. Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value followed with nine nominations each, while Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet racked up eight.

In the acting categories, Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) and Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) offer two very different studies in compelling emotional range, while Emma Stone’s Bugonia performance didn’t go ignored. On the male front, Timothée Chalamet’s ferociously competitive ping-pong prodigy (Marty Supreme) sits alongside Leonardo DiCaprio’s acid-tongued revolutionist in One Battle After Another and Michael B. Jordan’s commanding dual roles in Sinners.
Supporting roles proved just as competitive. Jacob Elordi’s brooding Creature in Frankenstein continues his awards-season ascent, as well as Teyana Taylor‘s captivating turn in One Battle After Another, while Wunmi Mosaku’s recognition for Sinners lands as a long-overdue moment.
