Some travellers love their regular hotel chains to look the same everywhere they go to maintain consistency, and some travellers love individuality injected into each hotel property. If you’re of the latter predisposition, it’s time to visit the newly-opened Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park. The hotel chain, under the IHG Hotels & Resorts conglomerate, prides itself on having no two Hotel Indigo properties look alike. Each property is inspired by the neighbourhood it’s located within, and the KL one is no different.

Tucked into a little corner along Jalan Puncak, Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park is at an advantageous location–it overlooks Bukit Nanas and is close to the KL Forest Eco Park, giving you that lush rainforest respite and calmness to begin your morning with. But don’t worry about being too far out from the city’s convenience: it’s right in the heart of the city centre and minutes away from the likes of the Twin Towers, Chinatown, and the hottest mall right now: The Exchange TRX.

As you enter the hotel, the feeling of being ensconced within nature continues: a vertical garden greets you at the lobby, and sustainable design elements can be seen throughout the hotel. Don’t miss out on the central staircase constructed out of old railway sleepers and reinforcement steel bars from the hotel site salvaged during construction, the glass bottle light feature inspired by mangrove trees, or the reception desks crafted out of rescued tree roots sourced within the country. Local cultural features are also prevalent in the hotel’s interior–be sure to keep an eye out for the tiffin carriers and Hap Seng tin crackers, as well as the Chinese calendar pages that are inside the wardrobe interiors–things that make up a core memory in most, if not all, Malaysians who have lived through the 80s and 90s.

The Library, located in the lobby area, will also house a selection of books by local authors, which are available for purchase. Think of it as a memento from your trip to KL while supporting Malaysian talent. In fact, some items in the guest rooms such as the hand-woven baskets will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the baskets, in particular, will support the indigenous Penan tribe from Sarawak.

Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park celebrates the people, places and experiences that make the
neighbourhood one-of-a-kind. We are excited to be able to share these stories and inspire local
discovery as our guests forge meaningful connections with this wonderful city and its people.

Cultural and nature-inspired interior design elements aside, the property consists of 180 rooms, and on the rooftop, guests will find a 24-hour fitness centre and an outdoor pool with views of the cityscape and heritage buildings. There are also three event spaces on the same floor, which has sweeping views of the KL Tower. Incidentally, should guests not feel up for walking out and hunting for local cuisine on the streets, rest assured there, rest assured that there are options within Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park. There’s Wok Star, which offers local cuisine, and The Silver Monkey, which serves up a great steak.

Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the park has officially opened its doors to the public since December 8th, 2023. Make your booking here.
