Spring Fever: 7 of the Best Ramen Restaurants in KL and PJ

Boiled to perfection.

Few meals come close to the comfort and satisfaction that a bowl of ramen brings: from an umami-rich broth that’s been sitting on the back burner for hours to springy noodles that provide a subtle and satisfying crunch, on top of the swirl of fragrant oils that instantly enhances the soup. For us Malaysians, it certainly does not take a chilly day to crave a warm bowl of ramen—that sort of weather just does not come by often enough.

With that said, many of us have also—at some point—found ourselves disappointed, whether by soggy noodles or mediocre soup. So, to help with your hunt, we’ve compiled some of the best ramen restaurants we could find within Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

7 best ramen restaurants in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya

Ramen David

Born from veteran restaurateur David Chin’s love for noodles and several ramen-making classes in Osaka, Ramen David is a contemporary ramen bar that serves pork-free bowls in TTDI. Here, handmade noodles are aged four to five days, and broths spend over 12 hours in construction. The flavours vary from clear and light to rich and silky, made using quality ingredients only. Seafood lovers will enjoy the Kaki Shio (oyster ramen), while those with a simpler palate can explore the chicken ramen and clear broth options.

Operating hours: 12pm to 2.30pm, 6pm to 9.30pm, Wednesday to Friday, and Monday | 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 9.30pm, Saturday and Sunday | Closed on Tuesdays

Kanbe Ramen

If you’re craving for some wholesome, flavourful broths that still pack a punch, Kanbe Ramen is the solution. Tucked away in Desa ParkCity, this popular ramen spot offers rich, customisable Hakata-style Tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen and Tsukemen dipping dishes with the chunkiest noodles.

Operating hours: 11am to 10pm, daily

Towzen

If you think vegan ramen simply cannot replicate the richness and umami taste of a regular protein-infused bowl, you haven’t tried Towzen. Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Towzen (“tow” for tofu, and “zen” for peace) made its way to our shores in 2024 and has since changed our minds about vegan ramen. Menu highlights here include the Towzen Kyoto Soymylk Ramen, soymilk broth topped with a mix of mushrooms and pickled vegetables, as well as the Yuzu Kosho Ramen for a jolt of zest.

Operating hours: 11.30am to 3pm, 5pm to 9pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday | 11.30am to 9pm, Saturday & Sunday | Closed on Wednesdays

Address: 01-01A, Level 1, Annexe Block, Menara Milenium, 8, Jalan Damanlela, Bukit Damansara, 50490 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur

Tokyo Ramen

At Tokyo Ramen, the famous Japanese noodle soup comes in five main soup bases: shio (salt-based), shoyu (soy sauce), shiro (creamy, white chicken bone broth), kuro (black garlic oil), and aka (meaning “red” for a spicy variant). Aside from those, they also serve small but tempting bites such as chicken karaage and chicken gyoza—faultless companions to your ramen of choice.

Operating hours: 12pm to 3pm, 5.30pm to 10pm, Tuesday to Sunday | Closed on Mondays

Address: APW Bangsar, 29, Jalan Riong, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Homemade Ramen Muginae

Opened just last month, Homemade Ramen Muginae is well known for its MSG-free broths and handmade noodles. A decade after its launch in Japan, the ramen establishment has finally made its way to our shores, offering its famous ‘shoyu ramen’ along Jalan Sin Chew Kee. Beyond the signature dishes of noodles, the restaurant also offers a variety of dishes such as yakitori and fresh sashimi to be enjoyed on the side.

Operating hours: 11am to 2pm, 5pm to 11pm, daily

Minamo みなも

Best known for its chicken-based ramen crafted by Chef Chihiro Miyazaki, Ramen Minamo is a taste of Tokyo tucked away in the heart of Desa Sri Hartamas. Its open kitchen concept allows visitors a chance to witness the skill and precision that goes into every bowl. On a compact but sufficient menu, you will find soups ranging from creamy and light, to rich and silky. Besides the classics, there is also the truffle soup and crab broth for those feeling a bit more adventurous.

Kyuyo Ramen

Located in the neighbourhood of Bangsar Utama, just a short walk from the Bangsar LRT Station, Kyuyo Ramen is a famous go-to for some creamy tori paitan. For those who can handle the heat, go crazy with their chilli oil.
