A Brilliant Affair With DeGem and GRAZIA Malaysia

DeGem celebrates the reopening of their boutique in The Gardens Mall with GRAZIA Malaysia.

Founded in 1980 as a bespoke jewellery designer, DeGem has grown significantly over the decades. With seven boutiques to date, including their Infinity by DeGem outlets, the brand continues to expand its presence. Most recently, their boutique at The Gardens Mall has found a new, refreshed home, and GRAZIA Malaysia was invited to celebrate the official opening. Among the guests that were in attendance at the event were some of DeGem’s esteemed customers, socialites like Melissa Mae Lyn and Allyson Yeo, as well as KOLs such as Eros, Yazmin Aziz, and The Hustlepuff girls.

The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, graced by DeGem CEO Stephen Choong, Operations and Business Development Director Jia Chen Choong, Creative Director Choong Jiayueh, and Heart Media Group CEO Olivier Burlot. Following the ceremony, guests were invited to a styling session hosted by Jiayueh, who shared insights on how to pair different jewellery pieces with various fashion styles. Most notably, we were shown how different pieces of jewellery can be paired with different fashion styles. “After all,” said GRAZIA Managing Editor PohNee Chin in her welcome note, “Precious jewellery shouldn’t just be reserved for special occasions—they can also be worn with everyday outfits.”

In the styling session, GRAZIA Watches & Jewellery Editor Sarah Chong joined Choong at the front and introduced three different styles that one could incorporate into their outfit: brooches fashioned into decorative pieces for the hijab, which we styled for artist Syada Amzah; classic and elegant precious jewellery styled for content creator Yazmin Aziz; sporty, unisex pieces for Eros; and colourful stones for GRAZIA Managing Editor PohNee Chin. Attendees had the opportunity to admire DeGem’s designer pieces—from the Multi-Coloured Sapphire Bracelet to the versatile DeGem Fiori brooch, perfect for accessorising hijabs, along with their exquisite emerald rings and earrings.

The event continued with guests mingling and exploring the latest jewellery collection while sampling delectable canapes from Chateau Dionne. See more of what happened in the gallery below.
