The MICHELIN Guide has unveiled its 2026 MICHELIN Key selection, and nine Malaysian hotels are part of that selection, recognised for their exceptional stays. From the beaches of Langkawi to the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia extends its repertoire of premier hotel stays.
Five hotels have earned their first One MICHELIN Key this year, while four returning hotels have retained their distinctions, bringing Malaysia’s total to nine Key-holding hotels. Among the new additions are the Sireya Desaru Coast, Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast, Cheong Fatt Tze—The Qing Suites, Soori Penang, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and The Datai Langkawi.
The hotels that retained their distinctions include Else Kuala Lumpur, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and The RuMa Hotel and Residences. They all hold One Key, while the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi retains its Two Keys recognition.

The New MICHELIN Key Hotels in Malaysia
The Sireya Desaru Coast, Mandarin Oriental (One MICHELIN Key)
Situated along the southeastern coastline of Johor, The Sireya Desaru Coast, Mandarin Oriental brings a sense of secluded luxury to one of Malaysia’s emerging coastal destinations. Designed by the late, esteemed architect Kerry Hill, the resort is perfectly nestled within 128 acres of rainforest overlooking 1.5km of beachfront. Hill’s signature approach to tropical modernism allows travellers to immerse themselves in the tranquillity of both rainforest and sea. The resort also offers a beach club, rejuvenating spas, and immersive Malay martial arts—the ideal tropical getaway to relax and recharge.
Cheong Fatt Tze – The Qing Suites, Penang (One MICHELIN Key)
The next hotel is more than just another luxurious stay. It’s a new chapter in George Town’s iconic Blue Mansion. Cheong Fatt Tze – The Qing Suites occupies what were once five terrace houses built in 1904 as servants’ quarters to the historic residence. After decades of weather and disrepair, the annexe was finally restored and unveiled in 2025 as a prime luxury stay, bringing the two parts of the Cheong Fatt Tze legacy together once again.
Contemporary interiors in soothing neutral tones meet restored timber floors to create an inviting atmosphere. Local artworks and large-scale calligraphy embed stories and preserve the building’s cultural heritage, while a Traditional Chinese Medicine-focused spa adds a distinctive wellness element to the stay, making the Qing Suites a modern extension of one of George Town’s most recognisable heritage sites.
Soori Penang (One MICHELIN Key)
For architect Soo K. Chan, Soori Penang is a homecoming as much as it is a hotel. Set within George Town’s UNESCO World Heritage enclave, the 15-suite boutique property occupies a collection of restored shophouses within the historic Khoo Kongsi compound—ancestral grounds where Chan himself grew up. The hotel preserves the character of its original architecture while introducing a contemporary, minimalist interior through skylights, water features, and locally inspired details woven throughout the suites. The result is a personal interpretation of Penang’s heritage. A beautiful collage of architecture, memory, and modern hospitality.
Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur (One MICHELIN Key)
Taking luxury hospitality to new heights, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur occupies levels 75 to 114 of Merdeka 118, giving the hotel a literal place in the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Opened in August 2025, it is the first Park Hyatt property in Malaysia with 252 rooms and suites, alongside restaurants, a spa, and a 30-metre infinity pool on level 99. Its interiors have a modern take on Malaysia’s cultural heritage, while floor-to-ceiling windows give guests a panoramic view of the city. The Datai Langkawi (One MICHELIN Key)
Another tropical gem designed by Kerry Hill, set within the ancient rainforest of Langkawi’s Datai Bay. Here, luxury and the natural world are closely intertwined, and, just like Lorde—makes us want to throw our cellular device in the water and unplug. Overlooking the Andaman Sea, the villas and rooms are woven into the landscape rather than separated from it. Other than a luxurious experience, the resort’s efforts at conservation are just as noteworthy.

Meaning “home” in Malay, The RuMa Hotel and Residences puts a distinctive Malaysian spin on contemporary city luxury. Located just moments from the Petronas Twin Towers, the hotel’s interiors echo story and heritage through its display of local craftsmanship.
